Buffalo Urban Arts Teachers Academy (BUATA) was created to provide professional development that will strengthen and enhance the conceptual knowledge & pedagogical skills of art and music educators in the BPS.
This grant was developed to create an induction program for novice teachers and to train more experienced teachers to become mentors.
Objective #1: Program participants will create lessons that are aligned to the four NYS Learning Standards in the arts and the BPS Academic Achievement Plan.
Objective #2: Program participants will increase their use of research-based best practices when assessing student achievement in the arts, which reflect the NYS Learning Standards in the arts.
Objective #3: Program participants will show an increase in the use of local cultural resources to support sequential and well developed instructional sequence aligned to the NYS Learning Standards in the arts.
Objective #4: For each year of the project, each participant will receive 10 hours of individualized help and support from a master teacher certified in the arts.
