Afterschool BPS | About

Buffalo Public Schools offers afterschool programming for all students. Programming supports students in meeting social-emotional, academic, physical, recreational, and health and wellness needs.

The Afterschool Framework consists of:

Academic Enrichment – These activities supplement, enhance, or reinforce what is learned during the regular school day. During this time, the teacher to student ratio is 15:1 giving teachers an extra opportunity to provide instructional support that is inclusive of all students. Teachers can utilize supplemental programs such as MobyMax, Orton-Gillingham, Lexia, Reveal, MyOn, along with WOZ Ed STEM activities and CLRI lessons.

Positive Youth Development – Activities encourage students to develop into well-rounded and healthy adults who are contributing members of their communities. When possible, programming infuses art, music, theatre, and dance, along with cultural and character development

Health and Wellness - Activities are designed to promote physical fitness, nutrition, and healthy eating habits. Schools can also utilize second steps, along with restorative practices
