A critical component of all of student success is promoting the physical and mental health and well-being of our students. Our Comprehensive School Nursing Services Program is designed to ensure we can deliver on that objective.
BPS’ Comprehensive School Nursing program:
Provides students with nursing services as outlined by New York State laws and regulations.
Focus on prevention and early intervention.
Utilize evidence-based models that are effective in meeting student needs.
Provide services that are outcome driven and connected to student success.
Complements a collaborative model that emphasizes a coordinated approach to the delivery of services to address the needs of the whole child.
There is a strong relationship between health and academic achievement. Comprehensive school nursing services contribute to the academic performance of students in various ways and school nurses have a major role in this. School nurses assess and manage the health risks of students and work with students to strengthen healthy life behaviors that will have a positive impact on their school success.
