Project Prevent Grant Information

BPS was awarded a 5-year grant from the US Department of Education Project Prevent federal grant program. The funds provide local education agencies impacted by community violence to expand their capacity to implement community and school based strategies to help prevent community violence and mitigate the impacts of exposure to community violence for students. The 5-year grant award will provide BPS with $800,000/year to help support 6 pilot schools. The aim of the program is to increase the capacity of the school, through the school wellness teams and student support teams, to identify, assess, and serve students exposed to pervasive violence, helping to ensure that affected students are offered mental health services, support conflict resolution programs, and implement other school-based violence prevention strategies.
