Buffalo Public School Unveils New Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine

Arthur O. Eve School Students Rewarded with Tokens for Books Vending Machine

BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 5, 2023) – Buffalo Public School Superintendent Dr. Tonja M. Williams was at Arthur O. Eve School of Distinction PS #61 “Home of the Arts,” today to unveil a new Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine, which will continue to promote reading for students within the school community.

"This is a unique and fun way to encourage our students to become amazing readers," Superintendent Dr. Tonja M. Williams said. "Students earn special golden tokens for reading, certain habits or desired behaviors and are then able to get their favorite books from the vending machine using the tokens."

In 2018, Arthur O. Eve School was the very first local school to adopt the book vending machine model. After successful adoption, many schools across Western New York and various states contacted school officials to learn how to replicate the model. As a token of appreciation for being the first home to the original Inchy Bookworm Vending Machine, Global Vending Group generously donated a new and updated unit with custom graphics celebrated by the school community with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

The machine holds between 200 and 300 books with customizable slots to accommodate various sized volumes. This new machine replaces the unit PS #61 received in 2018, the catalyst resulting in Global Vending Group's placement of over 6,500 Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machines in schools and institutions throughout North America.

“We are thrilled to be an integral part of the reading and literacy program at the Arthur Eve School of Distinction,” Jay Blumberg, president, and CEO of Global Vending Group, Inc. said “Our partnership with School 61 has grown over the last five years and this new machine is a great way to keep students motivated to read on their own and with their families. Everyone at Global Vending Group is excited for the kids to use the machine and for it to be a part of their lives for the years to come.”

“For the past five years, the school has connected the Principal’s Reading Club initiative with the book vending machine model. This has supported our efforts in cultivating an intrinsic love for reading amongst our student body. We are thrilled that we will be able to continue this work, and promote reading on even a greater platform as result of the generous donation from our partner, Global Vending,” Principal Nathaniel Barnes said.

The Dr. Lydia T. Wright School of Excellence PS #89 also received a book vending machine in February of 2023.
