It is important for students to stay engaged with learning during the summer months. Reading is one way that students can maintain their skills during the break. Reading aloud to younger students is a great way to help them develop a love of reading. Students learning to read may also want to practice with decodables that reinforce phonics skills. Consider asking your child to write a summary after reading a book or ask them questions about the plot and characters. Consider participating in contests like the Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge.
