The Arts Academy presents its high school musical – DISASTER! Disaster! is a jukebox musical comedy straight from Broadway, featuring some of the most unforgettable songs of the '70s. "Knock on Wood," "Hooked on a Feeling," "Sky High," "I Am Woman" and "Hot Stuff" are just a few of the scintillating hits in this hilarious musical with a book by three-time Emmy Award nominee, Seth Rudetsky, and Jack Plotnick.   The performance dates are Thursday, April 3 and Friday, April 4 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 PM. There is a school-time matinee on Wednesday, April 2 at 9:50 AM at the Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts at 450 Masten Avenue in the Mainstage Theater. Tickets and Informational Flyer Story Synopsis -It's 1979, and New York's hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. Also attending is a faded disco star, a nightclub singer with her eleven-year-old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a secret, a pair of young guys who are looking for companions, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun with a gambling addiction. What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love that they've lost... or at least escape the killer rats… This musical is a hilarious homage to the era of bell-bottoms, platform shoes and the hustle. With larger-than-life characters, snappy dialogue and some of the most recognizable songs of the '70s, Disaster! will have the audience dancing in the seats and rolling in the aisles. Show tickets for the evening and weekend performances are available at the Arts Academy during the school days & school hours (8:00 AM – 3:00 PM). The box office also opens one hour before the shows start. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for grade school students and senior citizens (ages 62 yrs. or older). We are hoping to establish an audience for our school-time matinee of the musical on Wednesday, April 2 at 9:50 AM.   Tickets for students are $3.00 and is appropriate for students in grades 7 and up. Field Trip teachers & chaperones get in for free!
