After School (Extended Learning Time) at ECC #17 - Run by CAO

After School Program
The after-school program is run by CAO. The School 17 CAO Coordinator can be reached at 716 816-3150 ext. 1131.
The CAO has been a partner with ECC #17 since the 2012-2013 school year to provide a Sequential, Active, Focused, and Explicit (SAFE) learning environment. This program serves between 75-100- students in Grades K-4. The curriculum is composed of both academics and enrichments. In addition, the students are served a hot meal. The staff of the Community Action Organization provides back to basics Math and ELA curriculum that focuses on foundational learning and aligns all curriculum taught during the school day. Another piece of the academic focus is on the social and emotional needs of all students. There is a partnership in place with Child and Adolescent Treatment Services that helps the youth understand feelings, anger, conflict resolution, bullying and other day to day issues that come up in the lives of young people. Our enrichments include partnering with local organizations. We provide the students with Zumba, African Dance, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Young Audiences of Western New York, Hawk Creek Science, African Drumming, arts and crafts, typing, computer classes and nutrition.
