Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I hope you are well.

School administrators, out of an abundance of caution, implemented a lockout on Monday, April 7, 2025, in response to an alleged threatening social media post directed towards a student at Emerson School of Hospitality. BPS will always do everything necessary to ensure the safety of all when there is a perceived threat. The Buffalo Police responded immediately, and after a thorough investigation, deemed the threat “not credible,” and the lockout was lifted.

I hope this letter reassures you that we are more aware than ever about the importance and safety of our staff and students, and keeping you informed.

If you have any questions, please contact the school directly. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Ms. Schuta, Principal at Buffalo School of Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management

Dear Parent or Guardian:

One-Page Description.png
The Buffalo City School District is conducting an ED School Climate (EDSCLS) student survey. It will ask students about their perceptions on topics such as student engagement, school environment, and school safety. This survey will be administered to students during the regular school day, next week.

As a parent, we would also love to have your feedback as well. If you would like to participate you can go to this website, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/F9NDNMG.

This survey is voluntary. Your student’s responses will not be shared with anyone, and he/she does not have to participate in this survey. As a parent or guardian, you may ask that your child not participate in this survey. This is called parent opt-out.

If you do not wish to have your child participate in this survey, please call the Main Office on Monday at 716-816-4778.   There are no consequences or penalties if your student does not participate.
Should you have any questions about this study or your child’s rights as a participant please email EWszalek@buffaloschools.org or contact  our school at 716-816-4778.

Thank you,

Ms. Schuta, Principal
