Mission Statement

We at Waterfront Elementary are a supportive, diverse, and creative learning community.  We strive to develop and nurture a desire for learning in every person.  Our goal is that each student will develop skills of problem solving, critical thinking and communication necessary to succeed academically, professionally and socially. Our staff is dedicated to high quality instruction that motivates students to meet challenges with persistence and excellence

Our History: 25 Years Of SuccessWaterfront was the first Pre-K to grade 8 magnet school in the City of Buffalo. It was created to promote understanding and tolerance among its diverse ethnic, racial and religious groups. This diverse environment has provided a high quality educational experience for all students. Waterfront has a proud tradition of success! For more than 20 years, Waterfront has developed partnerships with Western New York United, Buffalo State College, Young Audiences of Western NY, Shea's Performing Arts Center, Niagara Region Science Olympiad, Canisius College, Concerned Ecumenical Ministries and many other organizations that help to support our students.

Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS)

We at Waterfront Elementary feel that a key to a successful academic experience for all children is to have a positive school wide climate.  From encouraging attendance to giving clear guidelines for students to follow when they are in the hall, cafeteria, leaving for the bus or in the classroom, we always want to let Waterfront Students know the best way to behave.  Positive behaviors are rewarded with a "Super Surfer" ticket.  All students can consult our Student Handbook for help in knowing how to be responsible, respectful and safe at Waterfront.
