On this day in Women’s History, March 5, 1931, Geraldyn Jerrie Cobb was born. She later became a record-setting pilot and the first woman to pass the astronaut qualifying exams in 1959!
March is Reading Month, a time to celebrate the joy and importance of reading. At PS 64, students had the opportunity to hear Dr. Mubenga read and share stories with them. It was a special moment that highlighted how books can spark imagination, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

On this day in women’s history, March 2, 1860, Susanna M. Salter was born — she went on to become the first woman elected as a mayor (Argonia, Kansas) and the first woman elected to any political office in the United States.

March is Women’s History Month. BPS proudly celebrates the achievements, leadership, and impact of women in our schools and community — past and present.

On February 27, 1988, Debi Thomas became the first African American to win a Winter Olympic medal in figure skating at the 1988 Winter Olympics, earning bronze and breaking barriers in the sport.
In honor of Black History Month, PS 61 Arthur O. Eve School of Distinction proudly presented Motown Magic, a celebration of the legendary sounds of Motown. The school’s exceptional music program was on full display, showcasing the dedication, talent, and hard work of our students. Thank you to our families for your continued support, our staff for putting together such a fantastic event, and to our students — you absolutely rocked the stage!
