On February 27, 1988, Debi Thomas became the first African American to win a Winter Olympic medal in figure skating at the 1988 Winter Olympics, earning bronze and breaking barriers in the sport.

February 25: This Day in Black History — In 1964, Muhammad Ali won the heavyweight title and became one of the most influential athletes in history.

Congratulations to our Yale Cup Division 2 and Division 3 basketball champions. Olmsted and Middle Early College finished as Co-champs in Division 2 while East locked up the Division 3 title in Coach Bryant's final season. Great job boys and good luck this week in Section VI playoffs! Also, Congratulations to the South Park High School; Community School Sparks Varsity Girls Basketball team. 2025/26 Canisius Cup Champions!! Congratulations 13-0 undefeated division champs!!
February 24: This Day in Black History — In 1926, Carter G. Woodson launched launched a movement, which later grew into Black History Month.
February 22: This Day in Black History — Dr. J. Ernest Wilkins Jr. was a groundbreaking mathematician and engineer whose work opened doors in STEM and education.
February 20: This Day in Black History — In 1968, students at South Carolina State College protested for civil rights, continuing the fight for equality in education.
February 19: This Day in Black History — The Tuskegee Airmen began their journey in 1942, becoming the first Black military pilots in U.S. history.
February 18: This Day in Black History — Toni Morrison, born in 1931, became a Nobel Prize–winning author whose work transformed American literature.
