TIP OF THE DAY L VE DATAWEEK Where’s the Data? Looking for data? Here’s how to get it!
TIP OF THE DAY L VE DATAWEEK Where’s the Data? Looking for data? Here’s how to get it! BPS offers several pathways for accessing data depending on your role and purpose. Internal Data Requests are for BPS employees needing data for jobrelated work and are submitted through the Internal Data Request Form. External Data Requests are for partners, collaborators, or individuals from other educational institutions; applicants must download, complete, and submit the External Data Request Form and required documents. Research Requests are required for anyone conducting research in BPS—including staff conducting non–job-related research—and must include a completed Research Request Form and Data Privacy Agreement outlining data security measures. FOIL Requests allow members of the public to access records of governmental agencies. FOIL provides a process for the review and copying of an agency’s records. Not sure what you need to do? Email datarequest@buffaloschools.org for support

International Love Data Week February 9-13, 2026
TIP OF THE DAY L VE DATAWEEK Where’s the Data? The Buffalo Schools’ Office of Shared Accountability is excited to celebrate Love Data Week by reminding our community of some of the data services we provide. Love Data Week (#LoveData26), celebrated each February around Valentine’s Day, highlights the importance of data in research and everyday life. Each day during the week of February 9, 2026, we will share information related to our data practices. Looking for a quick, fun way to participate? Adopt a dataset! Just choose one from the list of datasets available for adoption (or any dataset in the ICPSR holdings), download it, and start exploring—it’s that easy. Adopting a dataset is kind of like adopting a pet, except less messy. Choose a dataset that interests you, fill out the Adoption Form, and dig into the data. Bring your dataset to life and share what you learn through email, social media, and more. Hint: we have images and templates that make sharing easy. Finish your adoption and download a Certificate of Adoption. You can even be featured on our Wall of Honor. Get ready to feel warm fuzzies and a deep sense of pride. ICPSR’s Adopt a Dataset program is free and open to everyone— students, researchers, nonprofit staff, or anyone curious about data.
International Love Data Week.
