I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you about an important update regarding the security measures that will be implemented at our school starting Tuesday, October 3, 2023. In our continued commitment to ensuring the safety of our students and staff, we will be deploying the Evolv Express weapons screening system.
The Evolv Express identifies potentially dangerous items inside bags and pockets in real-time, meaning your child(ren) can walk through the sensors without separating themselves from personal items. Students and staff will enter their school at a normal pace; the quick scanning process helps students avoid feelings of discomfort while working towards a safe, weapons-free campus. The Evolv security system utilizes advanced technology to detect potential threats and unauthorized items within the school premises. I wanted to specifically highlight a few items that have been found to trigger the system and may disrupt the security process. These items include three-ring binders, umbrellas, and devices such as laptops and tablets. To ensure an effective screening process, students will be asked to take out three-ring binders, umbrellas, and devices for their backpacks, they will proceed through the Evolv security system as normal. After completing the screening, students will be able to collect their belongings and return them to their backpack.
